my first wedding cake !!!!!!! August 21, 2008

this is my first wedding cake made for my brother and his new wife heather .there were 3 tiers each had 3 cake layers, chocolate w/ choc. filling , strawberry w/straw. frosting filling, and vanilla on top all was covered in butter cream and finished off with fondant. for decorations i cut fondant circles in different sizes attached to cake then i made the fondant rope to circle each layer and embellished the joint w[ a rope circle and rhinestone i also painted all embellishments with pearlize food color i used 4 different ribbon types around the middle and topped it with a topper i made from wire and beaded garland and hanging from the wire are 3 heart ornaments each say either today tomorrow forever and finally fresh flowers to finish it off. i traveled this cake from Anaheim to las Vegas and had to recover the night before the big day in my hotel room then while bringing it down to deliver it to the wedding the bell men at the Orleans who was in care of the cake for 10 min. brought to my car and had put a good size dent in the side of the bottom layer. he said he didn’t do it and no one copped to it and the manager was no help. i think they totally expected a tip like i gave the valet guy but anyway all a really wanted was for someone to apologize that would have been nice but what can you do . it made it to the wedding and they loved the cake so everyones happy. i learned allot in this cake experiment i enjoyed it! i would totaly do it again. knowing what i know now.
